How does winter rain leave the closed louvres?
Gutters are machined into the profiles; water drops inside the posts to an outlet we place at survey — away from the table and, if we can, into a downpipe already on the rooftop. Tangier winter showers are short but heavy: we size the section so water does not sit on closed blades.
Before we leave, we wet the roof to check fall and seals. If leaves block a downpipe, a cleaning access is planned — this is not a “sealed for life, no maintenance” claim.

Powder-coated RAL or anodised against Tangier salt?
RAL gives the colour range (anthracite, sand beige, off-white…) and can match your joinery. It needs a marine-grade powder and a proper degrease in the workshop. Anodising grows an oxide layer that holds salt better, with fewer shades (natural, bronze, black).
On the first sea line or a very exposed rooftop, we push anodising or a salt-ready coat. Fixings are stainless in both cases. We do not pick the finish from a photo alone: the visit shows whether the wind carries spray.

What exactly is in a WeAlu workshop quote?
The quote lists the survey, workshop cutting plan, CNC work, RAL or anodising, stainless hardware, install, drainage and a written installation date. Workshop lead time (3–6 weeks after measures are signed off) is stated in plain terms.
Unless a separate line says so: heavy masonry, a new feed from the villa board, permit filing. LEDs and a motor are separate lines, so the frame price stays readable. See also our glass railings and heat-control films if the same job needs them.

Can we keep the terrace tiles that are already down?
Yes — that is the usual case on Tangier rooftops in terracotta. If the slab is sound, we anchor in the grout or go through to the concrete with chemical plates, so we break as few tiles as we can.
We will not drill blind if the roof waterproofing is unclear — especially in a shared building. Loose or crumbling tiles show up at survey; we say so before the aluminium is ordered, not on install day.

How much power do the integrated LEDs use?
We fit 24 V strips, in practice 8 to 14 W per linear metre depending on density. A 4 × 3 m pergola with a perimeter strip often stays under 80–120 W when on — less than a small heater, nothing like terrace heating.
Power comes from a dedicated driver, dimmable if the quote says so. We do not pull a cable from the villa board unless that electrical line is on the quote. Insect-free evenings are better handled with an aluminium mosquito screen on the bays, not with more LED watts.

Who files the building permit or planning approval?
The client — you, or your architect. WeAlu supplies workshop drawings, sections, loads and elevations for the file. We do not file the permit for you and we do not promise a yes from planning.
A small wall-mounted pergola on a private villa often goes as a declaration. A rooftop seen from the street, a condominium or a regulated zone can need a heavier approval. We flag it at survey; the decision stays yours.
